We begin with manufacturer documents.
For the scanner models covered here, we read the official product pages and their linked manuals. The source blocks in each guide point to the documents behind format, holder, and resolution statements.
We distinguish an outer slide-mount dimension from the film format and the image area. If the source documents disagree, we preserve the disagreement and narrow the claim. The Slide N Scan sensor specifications are one example.
What a finder result means.
A “documented option” means that the manufacturer lists the film format for the model under discussion. It does not mean we have held that scanner, checked your exact mount, measured its output, or found it to be the best choice.
- An unknown material or film format leads to identification first.
- Unknown, small, thick, or unusual slide mounts need an additional holder check.
- Paper prints and movie reels are directed to another workflow.
- Large-print goals lead to a quality-focused sample and a discussion with a lab.
- 126 results keep the crop and full-frame coverage question visible.
What we have not measured.
We have not performed hands-on tests of these scanners. We have no measured ranking for resolved detail, color accuracy, scan speed, dust removal, reliability, or print quality. We do not present customer star ratings as our own conclusions.
Our illustrations are original schematics or decorative archive artwork. They are not product photographs or photographs of test scans. Diagrams marked “not to scale” should not be used for measurements.
The Wolverine Titan’s manufacturer manual and holder combinations have not been checked. It is therefore excluded from our recommendation set.
Commercial links and the calculator.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. This may earn us a commission at no additional cost to you. Our advice is based on documented compatibility; commissions do not verify fit or scan quality.
The cost calculator uses the values you enter. Blank optional values are treated as zero; required values are not silently replaced with a market price. The tool shows its formulas and assumes constant per-image costs. It does not predict image quality, guarantee savings, or evaluate a service provider.
Dates are a check record.
“Documents checked October 8, 2026” records our review of the linked material. It is not a product release date, a claim that a listing is in stock, or a promise that a manufacturer’s specifications will remain unchanged.
Before purchase, confirm the exact model and included holders with the manufacturer or seller. For irreplaceable originals, a representative sample and a handling discussion are useful even when a format is listed.
